In addition to the listed projects, I've also been involved in numerous other activities including business advising, website design, guest writing, mentorship, and more.

Below are just some of the organizations I worked with or helped out in the past and whose missions I truly believe in.

In serving as a career advisor for young students, I've learned a ton about what I've discovered about engineering and consulting, as well as how to pursue the career paths that I may not have thought about at that age. If you have a moment, I encourage you to join the CareerVillage network (takes two seconds with a LinkedIn account) and help young students learn about the real world by providing advice.

STEM From Dance is an organization that combines the art of dance with the importance of science and technology. Through workshops that focus on three components identified as weakness in the pipeline (Readiness, Awareness, and Confidence), SFD's mission is to encourage more under-represented minority girls to enter and pursue careers in STEM.

In helping out and advising from time to time, I've seen first hand how important SFD's mission is, and I try to support them as often as I can. Check out their website and if you're in the NYC area or have resources that you think could benefit their organization, including donations, I encourage you to reach out to them here.

In the Fall of 2014, I was asked to join the writing team at asmithblog.com, a leadership blog, as their weekly writer on creativity. For over a year, I published weekly articles around applying creativity to everyday life.

It was an interesting experience as I didn't consider myself a particularly creative person for a long time. However, I think that realization has helped me in presenting the idea of creativity as something that goes beyond our traditional thoughts of artists and creatives. Creativity is a mechanism for enacting change in the world, and I think that we all have ways that we can build our creativity skills through practice and application.

I've also had a bunch of opportunities come my way where I could help others including:

  • Guest Speaker at National Honor Society Induction
  • Panel Facilitator for discussions on career paths, traditional and non-traditional
  • Career Advisor for College Students
  • And a few other things here and there

I love helping people move toward their visions and develop their ideas. It's what I'm passionate about, and what I plan to devote my life to. It's been an amazing experience so far and I can't wait to see what comes next.
